Sanctuary

If you fall helpless
beneath the winds and rains of sorrow,
I will lift you up with wings of glory
to sail your beginning
from the sting of end

When the shadows descend upon your brow
and night refuses to greet the day,
when the birds outside your window pain
limp the ground in flightless free,
my smile will shelter you

If your dreams are shattered from your mind
and hope is out of touch,
I will kneel beside you
and pick the pieces up from the floor
to give them life again

If ever you feel persecuted
by the venom lies of tongues
That lick at the walls closing in,
I will sweep away the tears
from the hillside of cheeks
and remove your crown of thorns
so you shall bloom once more

If you long to hear
a word that is dear,
just rest your head upon my breast
and listen as my heart serenades
that I am here for you

If you become blinded
by the chasm of solitude,
the calm of my light
shall entwine your lashes
to adorn your sight
that you are never alone

I am that fresh drink of truth
sipping of your breath in ask
filtering the sweet from the sour
to replenish your soul in cleanse,
that I am your angel,
your sanctuary

If you should find
that you are lost
all you need to do
is turn around and take my hand,
I will guide you home

Melissa, I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this is. The love that shines on every line must bring untold joy to the recipient of this beauty.
A keeper.
