two plumped up goldfinches at my chamber door stuffing full of seeds and then going in for more hanging on a metronome with tiny little peals for the breeze is gentle calming their tasty meals such a joy they bring when they seek their sustenance on my gold-capped feeder they put me in a trance then they flit away leaving me in a daze waiting for their followers to wing another phrase house finches follow brown paisley in the sun munching at the feeder until their fill is won Thank you little finches for dancing up my day you fill my heart with ardor and brighten up my play ©April 28, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Write on! I love birds - they bring such a peacefulness over me when watching them. This poem was near and dear to my heart because I have finches and you've described their behavior quite well.  |
