I am not much good in the off season
content to wait for the changes to take place,
I'm simply there for the duration.
Retreating in the darkness of winter
without a purpose, I've no function to serve.
I look better upfront than I do from the back
ashamed to admit I come cheaper that way...
I'm a warm breeze passing through a fancy
cooling off in the heat of the night.
Shedding light in the summertime
giving way to the view outside
measured to fit into a mold
I'm the slamming sound that makes your head ache.
I'm screwed for life and a lot of work,
a real swinger hung by the hinges
I'm a handy man's nightmare
giving beauty to the American dream
structured to suit your every need.

I'm talking curb appeal baby~~~

I am probably wrong.. but it sounds like you are talking about a screen door... "not much good in the off season" "slamming sound",
"hung by the hinges"... Well?

Magicmystery~ You're quick and I thank you for reading.
I guess I blew my cover pretty quickly.

BC~  No need to apologize, I didn't want to give myself away
so easily anyway......I'm 3 for 6.   Like they say you can fool some
of the people some of the time!   Thanks

Poet Devine~ Thank you for enjoying I had a ton of fun writing this.
I should have said at the end, to serve your changing needs, not your
every need!!  I need to keep in mind how much work I am!!  hehe~

Hi Regina~ A screen door she be!!  I have one out front that is one of those wooden models in an almond color, with a full screen that hits about three feet up from the bottom and a pretty brass handle.  It makes for a nice look from the curb you know!  Now out back through the garage I have a cheap aluminum number that looks even cheaper than what it actually cost!!  It's nice to see you here, and I appreciate you stopping by.

Hi Floria~ When sitting at my computer It's s straight shot out the front door and it gives off such a nice light,  I love the look, but I'll confess I never thought I'd be writing about it!!
Thanks a bunch!!

Really cool poem, Lori...

I thought you were writing about me...
I guess I'm being self centered but right now, I have about as much curb appeal as your screen door...
I too, am hanging by the hinges and causing lots of headaches.
I'm also screwed for life and a lot of work...LOL ~lots of hugs~

This is so funny! Don't let it hit you on the way out. My screen doors always seem to trap more bugs on the inside. Do I have them screwed on backwards? LOL.

hey, this is really cool. . .

I like the way that you made it flow and gave it a life of its own. . .

excellent work. . .
