Still Life See this shape like vase of vernal verve Constructed like the slide from waist to hip Soft the eye lingers within the curve That glistening condensation’s not a trick The sweet pea’s pink head leans to curled tendril And with a soft ear of listening hears it sing Like dusk in summer slow it barely trembles Think fearless of time’s treachery she would fling She loves the vessel where the water lives A gift to urgency unseen it gives To beauty of a flower blooming real This sensual still life knows how water feels |
