      The Moon Undressed

I didn’t miss the moon,
for it was dressed in fog
pulled to earth and surrounding the trees.

In the room I knew it by name
from the color on the walls
and the sleepy smile you made
wrapped in perfect crumpled sheets.

You said, is there a full moon tonight?
And I said,  out of the warm I’d find the hole
that looks into the place where magic makes
love to the earth’s still things dirt bound.

The sky was muted silver,
soft shutters closed almost,
a feather of eyelash down in softened bloom
of rose made dusty lavender.

And the dark was cast aside
by the pale shiver that fell over me
tip toeing barefoot across the damp
to the pond where I could see
in perfect circle around circle
reflected there by my face,
the moon, perfectly undressed.

Yes, there is a full moon I told his back
as I pulled the cover of his skin over my sleep.

He is blessed by your words
and you are images graced
by the moon...

OH good grief....just take my breath away why dont ya....
I was shaking my head and smiling by the
second verse...by the 4th I was sighing.
Now I have poetic envy and want to kiss the moon for inspiring this exquisite write in you...you get one too for the lines and images that are so uniquely YOU. My library will be sighing shortly...

... and I don't know why ...
Why should love come down and just sweep me away
I want to fly ... but there are so many things in my way.

Oh Martie Martie!
I read this and I felt the same as when I have a sip of the bubbly!
You write in such a way as to take the reader right there...
then leave them with such a gentle wistful sigh.
My how I love this!  Wonderful writing.
