A Word to the UnWise

in bondage he sleeps
in terror he walks
as challenges energize him
the rest of the world is without electricity
his unkind spark ignites the fuel

with his close compadre Denial by his side
he is a battleship of fury
pulling along small frigates
engaging in overpowering broadsides
His tongue never runs out of batteries
nor do his backslaps ever stop stinging

Castanada-distorted views of life
imbibed with self drunkenness
he offers toxicity when he gives material prosperity
the price is blood tears
and his eyes have long since been dry

if only
Regret and Change
would become his friends
once more

Jeff darling boy as always your writing portrays such depth and understanding of human nature. This is absolutely a magnificent piece from you, the power of the words and the metaphors are exquisite. I think the unwise will always be around...I have been him/her a few times myself. Perhaps the lessons learned thus, will turn negative into good. Your poem got me thinking...a good thing. Thanks!
