.
I'm right here in Ft. Lauderdale
One of the few not out on bail.
The city of fun in the sun.
I saw it once - in '91.
I see palms swaying in the breeze
And watch for swimming refugees
Who've risked it all - all that they own
To come and make our town their home.

The snowbirds chase the early birds,
Attack the Rascal House in herds.
We have a big state lottery
And Indians sell smokes, tax-free.

Each year the tourist hoards invade,
Wear yellow shorts...drink Gator-Ade.
Though they invade our beach like leeches
We smile at all those sons of beaches.

Why do we smile? The simple fact is
Thanks to them, there's no state taxes
So we just smile and say hello
Then cheer the day they finally go.

Our bird - the plastic pink flamingo
Our slogan - "Hot damn! I've got Bingo!"
With Spanglish our official lingo
And foreigners are known as "gringo".

If one can disregard the lootings,
Pay no mind to the drive-by shootings,
Laugh at corruption in city hall,
This is a great place, after all!!!

(smiles) Oh Michael, this sounds like so much fun, yep, Spanglish is very very popular here in Colorado, as you can even tell from some of my poems, hehehehe! (big hugggssssss) I would love to participate in this, for I want to learn all about everyone else's home and where they come from just as I am eager to share! (smiles) This is wonderful, sweet friend, I LOVE IT, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Balladeer, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

’Deer dearest heart, this is utterly divine, as always your writing far surpasses the mere brilliant and is superb. You know I love this, that is a given of course.

What a truly amazing place your home town is, it sounds utterly utterly unique, with a charm that probably cannot be quite described, there simply not being enough suitable adjectives to paint the wordy picture. Well, if anyone can write the blurb for the brochures I’m sure it’s you. Fabulous writing absolutely fabulous.

And don’t blame me when the Tourist Information Bureau come knocking on your door to help them promote your town.

Each year the tourist hoards invade,
Wear yellow shorts...drink Gator-Ade.
Though they invade our beach like leeches
We smile at all those sons of beaches.

Why do we smile? The simple fact is
Thanks to them, there's no state taxes
So we just smile and say hello
Then cheer the day they finally go.

Absolutely perfect writing, I like this, I really do. And watch out The Trollop is about to descend to blitz the joint. Hold on to your hat ‘Deer

’Deer hi there my friend, what an interesting place you live in. It sounds like one absolutely amazing town, or is it a city? You know of course that I’m going to say this is again an excellent piece of writing, I know I’m soooooo predictable, Tell that to mum. Oh I’m so glad I get to mix with you poet types, you are all so much more fun than the people I normally have to deal with. I do want to give this a community thing a go, I’m not sure how it will come out but I’ll try. And don’t everyone fall over laughing when you hear the name of the place I live at, it is not that funny. it is actually, but it is better than Trottersclife pronounced Troslie

This really is excellent writing, and I just love these lines so much. I love it all actually but they really tickled me

Deer one,

a wonderful portrait. A city I've never visited but would like to one day.

A poet friend I've never met lives there. Perhaps you know him. Name's Stephen.

I will have to give it a whirl
and write of my little town
but shhh...theres to much gossip
and bullcrap(?) going round.

Its really a nice little place
like something in a hometown dream
with fields, farms, and horse driven buggies
crossing covered bridges over streams.

ahh something like that anyhow...shoot.
sounds like fun deer.

Like a red brick,
in a white wall
somebodies brush
forgot to paint...
lonely....(as sung by Tracy Lawrence..)
