The Vigil of my Heart

Oh how the heart does yearn more sweetly
When we are apart
Your figure looms in nearness
To the vigil of my heart

Your thoughts have come in petal dreams
In fragrace that is drawn
From honeysuckle’s sugar drops
That waken with the dawn

The twilight skies announce the lovely
Light of your desires
And veil my night with little stars
Of passion’s sparkling fires

If you would love me from afar
If you will wait the hours
Please send your love in ways that
I can breath your sweetest flowers

Then kiss the distance of the wind
Embrace the tolling chime
Let all your wishes come upon the
fragile wings of time

And I will gather in my eyes
the beauty of the day
And in my heart the gentle words
That softly come my way

Elizabeth Santos

Cadence kissed and absolutely delightful to read aloud and to take in to the senses.
A beautiful poetic sigh
wonderful romantic writing Liz

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch

Wonderful words you have written! Chris
