I am addicted to writing
An expression of purpose
A fix needed to get high
Within self respect

As my hypodermic keys pain me
In a struggle to make sense in mirrors
The relieve comes in short insights
That flows in hyper speed
Of spell checks

In pills of email returns I live
Waiting for ghost replies
To lift my spirits
That my words exist beyond me
Verifying my existence

As I send my messages around the world
I find my friends of solitude
That sends me comments that reach
The beating heart of a lonely man
So his exiled garden can blossom

Here I sit in front of a computer
Sneezing my brains out
In a memory hot with fever
As my brain melts the keys
With the winds that whirl within

Yes I am a poet
With a style a lot would question
For the sentences are too long
The punctuation is absent
And the rhyming to make any sense
Lies in another pill on another day

For my style will confuse and delight you
To be inquisitive of why I write the way I do
And to say I was blessed in failure
Of someone so special that someone awaits my illness
In a home that will then sing for me
In His words emailing me
You missed your punctuation

Hi...my name is Serenity, and I am a poetry-holic. (among other things)

I did appreciate the analogy, and yes, it's true, and...if there's a cure for this? I don't want it.

Enjoyed much.

Hey, y'know, you should take yr medication ONLY IN CONJUNCTION WITH therapy, not just meds by themselves! We all need it here. Heh heh. Enjoyed.

and oh what a sweet addiction it is!
Why would you want to be cured of it?

Hi D. Lester

I know the disease well..have nursed it along for many years....waiting for it to fester now and then.  Enjoyed reading your poem...made me smile and feel a bit sad.
