Emptiness

Wind
   blowing in circles
      picking up speed
         circling fast
             spiraling hard
                 ever higher
                     twisting
                       turning the air
                             ever faster
creating a vacuum
      danger
         emptiness
            a void
               in the center
                  taking flight
                     across the skies
touching down
    sucking up
       everything
           in it's path
              creating destruction
a void
     emptiness

Interesting form and a window on what huricanes and tornados do. Well done!

Yes, I agree with ecrivan. Nice graphic to accompany the poem. Good work Lyra, and be well.

Lyra,
good visual work but it sounds like you are caught up in something bigger than your ability to cope with. I hope all gets better.

Lyra,
Excellent presentation. But I'll pass on the tornado and you should too! As for your life...hopefully all is calm.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Lyra, I can feel a double-edged sword feeling in this poem, sweet friend, I hope everything is alright and this poem is nothing more than the natural force of weather and its cause and effects! (sigh) My heart goes out to many who are victimized by these natursl disasters, sweet friend, this is powerfully written, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Very well described Lyra.....I rode out
Hurricane Hugo in 1989....experienced the
emptiness of the eye when it went over us.
Very eerie feeling....from 130 miles per
hour to zero and back to 130 in about 90
minutes....from two different directions..

Love your description for the tornado...and
nice pic...

Well done Lyra.  Very visual description...and rather eerie too,
what with living here in tornado alley.
Do hope your own life is settling down a bit.

Lyra, sweet Lady of strength,
its OK to be scared.  Fear is a dark vacuum, but holding the hand
of others, we can join together with a braveness.  ~huuuug~
i knew instantly what you were referring to,
and those feelings that can chill a soul.

a classicaly written poem, where it takes all of the lines
to be cohesive as a singular feeling, and done mega-well!

True story:  a few years ago, there was a bad hurricane down south of me, pinpoint Wichita Kansas on a map and go a big East.  A friend of ours had taken roses to his wife for their anniversary.  He placed the glass vase on the table, plunked the roses in, turned on the news, heard the sirens, grabbed spouse and kids and headed for the basement.

When they came back up, the walls of the house were gone.

The roses, in the crystal vase on the table, remained untouched.

Thanks Martin,
I tried to capture the essence of a tornado with the format of the script also, but I don't think anyone caught that.

Thanks Lori,  I can't say I'm perfectly okay, I have some really annoying side effects from the radiation treatments...but they are temporary.....I only have 7 more treatments left...but this poem really is about a tornado.
Thanks so much for your concern

Thanks Sandra...You must live on the east coast.
I hope that you didn't get too much damage from the hurricane.
We didn't just have a tornado, but we do have them here quite often.
They are truly evil storms

Thanks Jeff...but the poem REALLY is only about a tornado...I never even thought about my health as a comparison...
I only have 7 more days of this radiation treatment, and then it will take a couple of week for the side effects to go away completely.
