Word Sketches
By Larry Chadwick

Pleasant how a blank page,
Can make me think of you.
I pull out paper and pen,
To write like I usually do.

No picture is required for me,
As I can see you in my mind.
A sure guarantee of sorts,
Inspiration for a poem to find.

Images either surreal or sublime,
Of thoughts I’ve no desire to tame.
A fantasy of reality or dream,
All of love just the same.

Seldom if ever am I lost,
For a poem of love to write.
A bank of wealth deposited,
Loves interest pays tonight.

Ink has sketched it’s lines,
Words a picture will paint.
Limited by my ability,
Casting a shadow so faint.

Grinning here--we are on the same page in more ways than one! This is the third poem about writing poetry in these wee hours!

I think I like the way you go about it much more than my own method! Sounds less painful.

Enjoyed much Larry!

Karen,
That's twice you've done that to me. Stop already. LOL The put downs I mean. Geesh...I'm delighted to be on the same page as you! Thanks always.

I especially like the line:

Loves interest pays tonight.

Your title really drew me in, too!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Larry - I must admit I'm glad that I did get to read this one. One can close their eyes and write as you have mentioned. Great write...
