state of confusion

One Minute at a Time

It happened on a Thursday,
in the early a.m. hours,
when rainstorms shoulder slumber;
he should have been safe
at home, in his own bed,
with the walls draped in black,
plastered with Marilyn Manson and Creed.

His parents didn’t bother to wait up for him,
they were used to the hours he kept.

He was not alone in the car,
nor was he at the wheel.
Two girls and one other boy
were there.
They drove (drunk)
into a telephone pole,
just past a sharp curve
on a moonless
mountain road.

Now what was whole
will never again be.

All parties concerned
are bringing suit,
picking over what is left:
over what is left:
bones.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Corinne, this is soooooo heartbreaking, my heart goes out to this boy and his friends and many others that are victims of accidents like these! (big hugggssssss) I too have coped with a loss that happened like this when my only friend in school, Cameron, on 4th of July crashed on the mountainside after fireworks went off and passed away that day. (sad sigh) This is so sad, my heart goes out to you and your thoughts here, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiufl heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

What a heartbreaking portrayal of a story that's repeated all too often... This is excellent, Corinne!!

Hi Corinne~
The reality of this really hits home, so many young people losing their lives through drink driving. I feel for all those left behind who will be feeling guilty even if it was not their fault.
Corinne very well penned poem and thanks for sharing ~HUGS~ Tracie

I agree...needs to be said over and over
again....My brother in law has been confined
to a wheelchair for almost 33 years because
someone else was driving drunk and he was
ejected from the vehicle...nearly died...
and now...a reminder to us all every day
of his life....

Thank You for writing this...
