* That is not what I meant at all
Nor thought to see a teardrop fall…
Alas, I find my tongue too sharp-
Too prone to criticize and harp.

I meant no harm, and that is true-
More so to such a one as you…
Who only kindnesses have shown,
The fairest I have ever known.

Alas, I find that once they’re said-
They fill the heart with nameless dread-
And trust and confidence mistreated…
From being hurt, have both retreated.

* That is not what I meant at all…
Now I am feeling very small…
I sorrow that I’ve made you cry-
And now I fear, it is “goodbye”.

Gunslinger,
Seems to me that an apology that sincere would abort a goodbye. Just a theory. Awesome write. I like the rythm to this piece and the message. The surprise ending kinda hurt though.

I have found if they really like you they let you get away with lots of stuff...but everyone has their limit so be careful...James

What tumbles out without thought often has consequences we never anticipated... I like this excellent write, GS. *S*
