Hidden Imperfection

Buds of newborn tender green
curled tighter than an infants innocent grasp
decorate the arms she uses for branches
growing from her body at upward angles of prayer
reaching for the sky
ever smaller ones stemming from the big
in a rhythm of graceful proportion
well ordered
classically cadenced
perfectly tidy, but for the curly gnarl at one elbow
a decoration of little use
it captures the curiosity
a stranger to the practiced eye of symmetry...
this little twist
invisible, when she is dressed in full leaf
a snaggly little arthritic nodule
a wriggled warp on a latent, blooming beauty
a hidden imperfection
visible
only in her nakedness

Thanks Karilea,
I have been wanting to post this poem for a few days now...its about a tree which is right outside my bedroom window...and I just couldn't sit at my computer...it was soooooo
frustrating....and I have missed being here so very much too!
I have to go to bed now, but I'll read your announcement tomorrow when I get home from radiation...thanks for posting that also.....
Its SO good to be back!

Sure looks like newborn willow buds to me. A touch of spring, a grateful flinging away  of winter's tight grip. Proof each year that life has a way of renewing itself over and over again. I'm glad it's outside your window, offering you encouragement and tender budding thoughts.

Thanks Kacy, I love your poetic reply...
I guess that you probably get spring quite a bit later than we do....but I could be wrong.
The other day, it was spring...I think that was on Monday, the day I wrote this poem...and then on Tuesday and Wednesday we had summer...it was 88 degrees here on Wednesday.....but yesterday, we had a thunderstorm and today it feels like winter again......
I think this is pretty typical of Michigan.

Thanks Maureen...
My birthday was fun except that I was really uncomfortable because of my radiation burns, and I couldn't eat any of my cake because the radiation upsets my stomach, something awful (we put a piece in the freezer for me for when this awful ordeal is over), but it was really nice to see all of my family and friends who came over to celebrate with me.
Thanks so much for thinking of me.

Thanks so much, Martin...as for my birthday...please read my reply to Nakedthoughts(above)
As far as feeling better...it seems to go in fits and starts...and as soon as I feel good, I am here at the computer...unfortunately, the state of feel good hasn't been lasting all that long...but the good news is that I only have 7 more radiation sessions left and I will be finished by the end of the month....and then....they say, it usually takes 3 to 3 weeks to recover from the side effects...
But I'll try to be here as much as possible.
