THIS WAS WRITTEN ABOUT A REMARKABLE BOY
NAMED SAFARI WHO WAS BROUGHT TO AUSTRALIA
FROM KENYA SUFFERING HORRIFIC BURNS FROM
WHEN HE WAS AN INFANT. THE LEFT SIDE OF
HIS FACE WAS VIRTUALLY FUSED TO HIS
SHOULDER AND HIS LEFT HAND WAS DEFORMED.
THE DOCTORS HERE IN AUSTRALIA PERFORMED
MIRACLES ON SAFARI AND AFTER COUNTLESS
OPERATIONS AND A LOT OF LOVE FROM THE
AUSTRALIAN PEOPLE HE HAS SINCE RETURNED
TO HIS HOMELAND TO SHOW HIS FAMILY AND
THE VILLAGERS HIS NEW FACE.SAFARI'S
PLIGHT WAS SHOWN WEEKLY ON A PROGRAM
WHICH SHOWED BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES.
IT WAS AS IF THE WHOLE OF AUSTRALIA WENT
THROUGH THE HIGHS AND LOWS WITH HIM. WE
HAVE A LOT TO LEARN FROM THE COURAGE OF
THIS BEAUTIFUL YOUNG BOY.

* * * * *

An amazing young boy named Safari
Made his way onto our screens
With such courage and determination
Most of us had never seen

You came to us from Kenya
For months of surgery you'd go through
It was an angel named Lesley
Who had done so much for you

So brave beyond comprehension
With a fighting spirit second to none
As you prepared for many surgeries
Your long battle had just begun

You arrived here in Australia
Where our hearts opened up to you
Such an inspiration to humanity
Many lessons to be learnt from you

Surrounded by guardian angels
Who brought you comfort in times of need
The doctors and staff were truly marvellous
As they went about their deeds

Your smile was so infectious
As radiant as the sun
How devoted you had become
To your new Aussie Dad and Mum

Janet and Frank were so selfless
As they welcomed you with open arms
You were so very irresistible
As they succumbed to your lovable charms

Now we watch each week your progress
As we encourage you along the way
And wish you much joy and happiness
As you thrive each and every day

So thank you so much Safari
For allowing us to be a part
Of your amazing fighting spirit
And your warm endearing heart

(BIG HUGGGSSSSSSS) God Bless Safari and Lesley and you, for writing such a touching poem for him, sweet friend, he too will always be in my heart and I will always be touched by the courage and love he shares with us all and how he now smiles with all his heart! Sue,
How awesome! Thanks. And what a wonderful thing Australia has done for a wonderful child.

It's never too late to have a good childhood! Woohoo!

Sue:  A wonderful story!  Safari's life is forever changed by the kindness of Australia and it's doctors. I imagine he changed a few lives too!

And you should send this to the local paper
asking them to present this to him...or
possibly put it into an article....

Never know what might happen???

This is beautiful Sue...You too are an
angel...
