I bought my feminine side some flowers
but, what she really wanted
was a bag to match
her vermillion shoes

she's always been that way
perfecting unreasonability while maintaining
that shy, quiet, "am I asking for too much?" smile
and all I can do is sigh
and give in all too easily

she's the one who orders blind off the menu
when all I'd really rather have is a burger
she's the one who reminds me that the symphony is at 2:00
when the hockey game's at 3:00
she's the one who knows
     that vermillion isn't red
          and that amethyst
               will never be purple

but, like any Spirit of Eve, she bleeds
and I have to tuck her away for awhile
comforting her, and letting her know she's understood
(she needs that reassurance in the weak moments)
until she's ready to come out again
       hair flowing in the wind
dancing to her own inner music

she is a celebration
and she reminds me that I am not only myself
but that I am her as well

she reminds me that beauty is everywhere
and that emotions are not to be ignored
but embraced and accepted as part of life
she reminds me that a kind word will always
do more than a million diamonds
and that I'll never be on time
because she is always (perpetually, I think) late

so, I bought my feminine side
     a vermillion bag
she smiled softly and said,
     "now all I need is a belt. . . "

Sveetie...GOT PICS?

This was different. I enjoyed, but must confess that I am scratching my head over the vermillion bag. (Does this font make me look fat?)

Hugs, Sven.

John, i wonder why nobody else noticed the conspiracy...aren't you attributing your flaws to women and declaring that these flaws have nothing to do with you?

heehee..i just got to be cheeky...this musing did make me ponder for a while--"just how many social selves do i have?"
