I wonder why
when thought ahead
the unexpected comes instead.
I spent two days
away from home,
each moment lost in thought, alone.

I see you there,
in dreams this night.
You in black, in shadowed light.
Tall, streamlined,
on you I lean
to hear each word
to breathe your clean, refreshing feel
I get each time
I word my feelings into rhyme.

I wish for you
to always know
that you are loved and even though
I see you there in colors dark
You raise in me an inner spark
to light the way, produce the glow
in neon colors
