Travel With Me
By Larry Chadwick

I’d like to take you on a journey,
There is no telling how long it will be.
I want to take you deep inside,
Your destination is the heart of me.

Traveling here will take some time,
So many detours to be checked out.
We could start at the beginning,
But I’m afraid there is some doubt.

Please review the map from where we start,
As the route from here is important to me.
There is no need to pack as I have baggage,
I packed it myself and thought you should see.

Many of my needs are complicated and old,
But I’m hoping that they can be met.
I suppose after further review,
That some shouldn’t be fulfilled…yet.

And now as your travel agent,
I recommend we begin at birth.
Don’t forget this will take time,
And I hope you find my worth.

You need to know about my childhood,
It was so innocent and full of joy.
I had such a wonderful family,
I loved being a little boy.

Adolescence wasn’t near so kind,
Our trip there will cause some pain.
I’m glad I only had to do it once,
I certainly wouldn’t want to do it again.

That’s why we are speeding into adulthood,
The speed limit here is at least seventy-five.
What matters is I survived in spite of me,
And I’m lucky just to be alive.

But a shortened trip in adolescence,
Makes for a prolonged adulthood.
Creating opportunity for mistakes,
And not doing things as I should.

But the joy of traveling through my adult life,
Is the chance to make victories of defeats.
Because the better you learn from errors,
The fewer mistakes you have to repeat.

I hope you don’t find the barren spots,
As something that makes the trip boring.
Please appreciate the contrast of the times,
When my experience was worth adoring.

Our trip will be entering the fall season of my life,
And is a time well worth reveling in.
That’s the travel brochure for this journey,
Let me know if you really want to begin.

an interesting trip, and a poem I think I'll give to someone if I ever start over.
Loved this

Well said, Larry. You used a perfect theme to convey your thoughts.
It always scares me to reveal what lies within my past, many find it too hard to handle to take a trip into my future.

Take care m'friend,

Jenn,
Starting over...hmmm, I took that trip. Thanks.

Melissa,
But when you find that one...it's worth the wait! Here's to the one for you, soon. Thank you dear friend.

Sounds like a great trip to me. Do I need to wear my sweat pants? It might get a little toasty in there, perhaps a camel hair bikini would do the trick? LOL, I couldn't resist that one. It will probably leave everyone else scratching their heads, wondering, now what was that all about?
