Daylight was blown in this morning
On winds that relented not to the clouds
It carried from the south to visit places
Further north of me
For surely they are headed someplace

Here the wind does not forgive
As it does in hill country
There are no valleys to hide in
Only open plains with few impediments
To the journey it undertakes in
Such hurried ways as if to say
I will pass through quickly
For there is nothing here but stem grass
And stunted trees for me to play among

I sometimes think you are like this wind
Rushing to make it someplace where things
Interest you more or at least that you find more amusing

I never thought of myself as a prairie
But then again maybe I am still hiding from you
In the hill country of my heart
With hopes you will realize the eddies of current
That we shared were not this gale
That blows today

Thank you for this...it was in my thoughts to write wind lines today, but you beat me to it, and by the way....did it much better than I ever would...

doesn't mean I might not give it a try, if simply to hightlight yours...

Sunshine... I am sure the words you would write about the wind are much better than mine... I have read too many of your poems to think you lack the words or the skill to write about anything you wish to.

thanks for the nice words my friend.

Cpat~ I like your analogy...you always have such a deep, profound way of sharing all your thoughts.  The last stanza is my favourite, it lingers in the mind.

*hugs*

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

"I never thought of myself as a prairie. . . "

I love this line, for so many reasons. . . this is a great image. . .and one that I will keep. . .
