Take Me Back

Somewhere in my memory remains a trace
Floating between night and some other place
Drifting on a breeze of silent remember
There’s just a hint of a forgotten ember
Which glows when the breeze blows through
Bringing back murmurings whispers of you
Caught between yesterday and tomorrow
I’ve lost in a haze of slumbering sorrow

Somewhere in my half moonlit memory
Flitting across shadows I almost can see
That mostly lost fragment of a almost dream
Shadows of things best left dead and unseen
Tales that aren’t quite remembered remain
Stinging with soreness of forgotten pain
Truths that shouldn’t resurface at all
Prick at my thoughts whispering call

Somewhere in time my memory stays
Muttering moans of lost yesterdays
Breathing in moments of shadowed night
Lost from dreams mysterious sight
Rumours of what were once counted dear
Whispering silence fills with cold fear
Images of what a mind doesn’t need
Slink off back to the shadows to breed

Somewhere in my memory I’ve lost me
I’m wandering in shadows confusedly
Trying to find my way back to light
Half sick of darkness half scared of night
Floating in a breeze I’m left to drift free
With nothing to anchor or secure me
Take me back let me hold to that place
Set me free of that cruel cursed trace

O Marsha, darling girl, your words of remembering and longing for an anchor are so very beautiful. I especially adore your thoughts:

"Trying to find my way back to light
Half sick of darkness half scared of night
Floating in a breeze I’m left to drift free
With nothing to anchor or secure me"

And you know what happens when I read your beatiful lovely poetry, don't you? I write and write and write.

And so, darling Mushy, yes! Once again, you inspire me to write!

With me

I see her there floating alone the gray
Remembering sweet sunlight of childhood
O how her heart longs to still run and play
And fly over trees in the breeze if she could.

And she can! For I know a man who loves
Adores ev'ry step she takes, looking round
A man of peace who lives in grace amoung  doves
Calling her, sweet one, come! Come and be found.

I love you, my darling, please come to me
I offer you ev'rything your heart says is true
Anchor you ship in my harbour, you'll still be free
Hold my hand as we walk, run and fly into.

All sweet skies of new morning never night
Singing and swinging with angels in song
Anchored in me ev'rything's is just right
So take my hand, follow me, come along.

Moor your boat here in paradise with me
In the day on the calm of my life's sea.

With me.

I loved this one Marsha..I do believe it is one of the best you have written, filled with so much heart and yet feeling the sadness within the words...I know you always write with hope...
