the robins are back
(that's how I know that it's Spring)
the robins
and
the bluegrayblue shifts of the clouds
bringing rainsunrain to a landscape
that's not really sure what it wants to be

part city
part country
part suburb
save for this part of land
smack dab in the middle of here

all around, the happenings of a thousand
lifetimes take place
and you'd never know it
if it wasn't for the robins
singing their melody of life
to this place, this world
that thinks that melody can't exist
without a really groovy bass track

stopping to listen, before the rain
there's a certain scent that pervades
when you're not ready for it
it's almost like a memory
(if memories had scents and sense)
a memory that you can't remember
because it hasn't really happened yet
well, at least not to you
but, you could learn something from
the thousands of other people that it's happened to
(everyone thinks that they're so unique)
they're ready to tell you
ready to help you
24 hours a day, 7 days a week
because God knows that you can't do it on your own

did you know that the sun makes a sound when
it hits the grass?
the sound of rays filling the spectrum
greenbrowngreen
then, that's when you notice that
ladybugs almost never know the secrets of life
in fact, they only know one thing
flying away
or is it flying toward?

so, again, it's the robins
they're the ones that tell that it's Spring
but, of course, I was never one
to listen
to the birds

smiled all the way through this one Sven! I love it! You are very insightful, you have a way of expressing what you see and feel to the rest of us. That's nice.

YAY!!! Yes, yes, I agree, this is indeed very insightful, and I believe that the first sight of a robin always symbolizes the harbinger of spring! (big hugggsssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, I LOVE IT!!! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sven, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sven...I know exactly what you are saying here!  But, you found the words to express it in a way I never could.  This is a wonderful piece my friend....and, I love it!

You'll never convince me you don't listen to the birdies. I enjoyed this poem very much, and look forward to seeing the robins soon. I'd also like to see the Canadian geese overhead, they are late this year!
