Shadow Impressions

She hears the soft motor of your far away eyes
like the breath of a lion
she feels the pull of you within the soft clasp of fog
where across the tundra of her map your road creeps

She watches for you with her skin too open
her safe place turning scarlet
anticipation a drum that will not quiet
as into the long day it plays her bursting

The song is long and low and feral
as fog fingers moves like cat soft slither over the hills of her
she melts into the shadow your impression makes
on her opening door

What's in your coffee, Martie...and please pass the cream...this is delicious, and I need a dollop now please, to top off this wonderful delight...

Absolutely fantastic imagery...

Oh, Martie, you've really done it this time! What is it about spring, anyway? Yum, yum! Meticulously chosen words, and a keen, stirring poem.
