This is written for my friend, Jeff, who is in a coma and has been for two tears from a car accident.

If God Decides To Take You

Every day I turn a new page to what could have been
But, I spend my entire being returning to the ones we've completed
It's been a century waiting for you to somehow open those eyes
And, our past still remains the only reward I've ever needed...

I've tried to put myself in your place to take on your pain
That day that you never did see the night
A part of me withered right along side of you there
But, I swear, I tried to save you with all my might...

Oh, if God decides to take you just when I glance away
Then don't allow the thunder you loudly endured
Come between the soul of yesterday who didn't see tomorrow
To ever change the man, the friend, you were before...

I'm still pulled down by the memories with that old guitar at hand
How beneath summer skies our voices filled the air
And, now, when the moon sheds just the right light
It's so haunting to hear us still singing out there...

Oh, if God decides to take you when I least expect him to
I will never know the melody of sanity again
For, what will I do with the part of you still singing in me?
If I have to sing of deaths songs of losing my friend?...

I know I can't take back the day that it ever rained
But, Lord knows I sing of how life has changed
I pray it's one more sweet sunny day you'll see
Cause, if he decides to take you, there is no me...

This is so sad, and it must be so difficult, I pray God is merciful to him, and you just hang in there Saunni, you are in my prayers. floria

You have written such a strong statement
within this very tender poem....

I pray for you and for Jeff.  I pray that God
will take care of you both.  And that your
heart can mend.

Saunni,
I can't begin to understand. How sweetly you have expressed your friendship and caring. Life is so terribly difficult in times like these...I'm so sorry.
