I stood at the summit
peering across the great divide
Was there a way to reach you?
touch you? Be near you?
fear denied the possibility
of any answers
I walked away, as you did
for an eternity

twenty days from now
found me here, in this spot
trying to inhale the peace
once surrounding you
recapture feelings,
touch the sun
somehow recall with crystal
precision the essence of you
your place,
now filled with endless shadows
a series of doors leading no where,
mocking me

Memories:

Faith...
for you, I'd braved
the unbaring of my soul
confessions that so often
left me alone & lonely
unsealed for your inspection
to muse over & consider
to pick apart, analyze
good or bad, beautiful and ugly
yours because I'd loved you

Twenty days from now
I'd bury the past
& look forward to "we"
sailing upon a sea of trust
a friendship of budding more
We had to endure
as the alternative
would be no less than
an incurable mess of
mangled heart & feelings
So, "we" set sail
& cruised the possibility
of twenty days more

even when the winds of
change blew chill across
barely there promises
I held on to the fragile
thread of maybe

how foolish

The fall
from such delirious heights
ripped precious breath
from my lungs
shattered fragile
belief in self
leaving me nursing
a broken heart
recovery, a slow, bitter process
afforded time to ponder
even wonder, why?

Healed:

At the summit
proud, tho disconcerted
forgiving with misgivings
certain with a conviction
that once eluded me
I have learned the secret
gained with it, power
that no matter how sincere
or intense the feelings
it is not always reciprocated
even as pity fills me
for the uncertainty whispering
from where your shadow dances
somewhere across the great divide
twenty days from now,
will you really remember?

It is easily apparent that while written almost four years ago, this poem still has great meaning for you today...this is a Keeper, Tier, as I am sure I will read something different from it every day...

(smiles) WOW!!! I agree with Karilea, to me this poem is much more than an double-edged sword; it has so much more meaning and thought and I believe it can have multiple meanings of introspection and faith every time we read it over! (kiss on cheek) This is fabulous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tiersdin, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
