     Any Sunday

You loved me in the morning with your hands
warmed by dreaming of not work
just a day all day of skin touch locked
without a clock on a Sunday morning

It could have been any Sunday
moving beyond skin this day leaked fast
into the afternoon
tinted by some music from a soul song
writing itself across the blacktop
down the road with the bumps

as iron clinked in the back seat
some tooled mystery junk from a shop
that sold before for a lot
this patina painted with time stains
sang with the beat of the van
as the weekend became eclectic
and the afternoon dimmed

to open windows
and alleyways dressed for the
Monday morning trash truck
with brown wintered grass
the old bed where kids jumped
past the change of time

stilled by the familiar pattern
of yellow bird green tree and sweet pea fence
into the neighborhoods of front porches
we

My day leaked fast into the afternoon also (what a fantastic image! *S*)... but lacking a "we" was only a wasted morning. *S*

I love this, Martie... sharing a Sunday through your unique perspective sure does make a Monday better. *S*

and on ANY day...it is a very cool thing to see the world thru your eyes...I do so love the content and calm of this Martie-girl.

and only you would see and then say it like this..

"this patina painted with time stains"

"time stains" ... yer so cool

some fantastic images here but my favorite line is the alleyways dressed for the trash truck

that is so ORIGINAL and vivid!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Like Deca, I get more out of each read.
And to think I thought it was a football poem

LOL@Interloper's 'football poem.'
Martie...the images in this are spectacular!
Just too numerous for me to pick and
choose a line here or a phrase there....
Gosh how I love the way you write!!
