I stood outside on the front porch and smoked my cancer stick The sidewalk overflowed and water spread over my wrinkling ankle bones in waves... The latest guilt commercial sprang harsh from the radio waves “If you gotta smoke, SMOKE OUTSIDE” so here I was in my boxer briefs and my Nike polo shirt smoking a fag I caught pneumonia and died No I didn’t... In fact all I did was sigh at the cloaked phantom getting pelted in the rain he could not harm this house the blood of sacrifice washed over the door and I was left with one soggy cigarette. hehehehehe, well, perhaps the blood of sacrifice that washed over the door had a double duty that day your cigarette ended up soggy...can't burn that way both of my parents were smokers Dad lived 64 years mom lived 72 I didn't get to witness old age in them, I didn't get to find out if I could be a 'very caring' daughter, I wonder if it's because I wouldn't have been or just because they smoked your poem is a great one, though!
