What Happened To The Woman I Married? |

THIS IS WRITTEN FOR ALL THOSE FATHERS WHO LOOKED ON HELPLESSLY AS THEIR WIVES SUFFERED POST NATAL DEPRESSION, FOR THEY ARE THE UNFORGOTTEN SUFFERERS IN THIS TERRIBLE DISEASE * * * * * My wife was once so happy Now she sits all day and cries She seems to see right through me As tears flood her beautiful eyes It was supposed to be so special When our baby son was born But life has become so confusing I feel so guilty and forlorn As a man I'm supposed to be strong But like her I am falling apart As I try desperately to find The key to unlock her heart Was it something that I said To make her feel this way? Whenever I leave to go to work She begs and pleads for me to stay No longer do we communicate And every thing I say is wrong We once lived in such sweet harmony But how very sad now was the song Being a parent is far from easy Nobody hands you a "How To" guide Just go by your intuition Feelings of doubt one must always hide I wonder what she's thinking She's just not coping with this life At times I feel quite scared When I catch her staring at a knife I'm taking my wife to see a doctor Not another moment can I wait He must have answers to our questions I only hope it's not too late * * * * * I am writing this as a former sufferer of post natal depression and as with many things society expects men to be the strong ones but forget that they can be hurt emotionally as much as women and we need to be reminded of that.I believe that the man suffers in silence on many occasions and I wrote this for all those men who tried in vain to comfort their wives before seeking the medical help they needed. And you have expressed their feelings so accurately and completely.... I think this applies to lives in general as well...For men often do suffer in silence too....Being the warrior that must always be brave and guard the homefront... |

The syndrome you speak of is sadly misunderstood to both the woman who suffers and those that surround her. Pity the poor man who struggles to make sense of it. I think child rearing is a life long test of our endurance and our love. |

 (sad sigh) Though I am young to have a family yet and have never related to this experience yet, I can understand this kind of sorrow so very much, for I too would be heartbroken if my future wife was unhappy for all I want is to marry the girl of my dreams and make her as happy as can be and comfort her when she is sad! (BIG HUGGGGSSSSS) My heart goes out to you and your husband, sweet friend, my thughts and prayers are with you, we all love you so much!
