Ok - here's the deal: Been working with Corel for several years now. All my older material, prior to six months or so ago is in the wpd format. Currently, I've taken to using MS Word.

Is there a program out there that will convert (reliably) from one format to the other, or am I stuck with doing it by hand?

Chris

I'm almost positive I remember hearing someone talk about one, at school.  I'll ask tonight, and see. (of course, those voices very well could have been the ones in my head.)

Chris: I guess we're talking old WP6.1 or maybe earlier...

if you care to send me an example I'll take it through my old graphic designer progs,  ABC, PSP,TopDraw, Designer Pro, etc etc...I'm sure one of those can handle it but age gets the better of me..*g*..

What format were you looking to convert to in particular?  I think I must have most of the library from way back then.....ooops... I might even have an old WP conversion prog on floppy somewhere...ROFL

Edit: Actually, I'm almost sure I've converted from WPD to WMF and then gone from there upwards, if that helps...depends on the rendering...I wish my neuron was working better...LOL

So far, of the people I've talked to - all I've heard is that Word 97 and higher can convert .wpd files to .doc - I've never tried it, so I don't know if it's 'reliable', and everyone I talked to had that "I. just. don't. know." look on their face.

  sorry - I'll keep checking

Word has the capability of converting wordperfect documents to *.doc

This I'm sure of

Actually Cindy - I'm looking not for graphical conversion programs, but rather one for the word processor part of Corel.

Yes, Word 2k will convert from wpd to doc. What I'd like though, is to have everythign in doc without having to open up each and every document. It's not a huge deal, but rather one of cleanliness and... well, I'm picky that way - I like everything even and neat on my HD. :D

Hey, Chris, four words for ya: Visual Basic for Applications

It's built into Word and has all the power you need. Word will even show you how.

Start recording a macro, convert one graphic, turn off recording, then look at the VBA code in the macro. There's your template. Put it in a loop (look up the Dir function for some hints) and you have your conversion program.
