Not 100% positive I should be putting this in here as opposed to the HTML forum, so if it should be there feel free to move it.

OK - my problem: Working on a new template design for Countless Horizons - biggest focus is making it cross-browser compliant, to where if there are degradations between the two, they're both subtle and graceful. I think so far I've managed to do that fairly well. I have a DHTML menu, which works in both Netscape and IE (though I don't know if it works in versions prior to 4 for both of them, it is such that it will be ignored if a browser is not able to read it). I did have it working and looking 'proper' in both browsers - until I started playing around with the tables, etc... Now, I have it looking exactly like I want it in IE - but have a serious problem in Netscape. I've tried tracking down where I went wrong, but can't for the life of me find it... any help would be appreciated!

Probably best to view it in IE first, to see what my intentions are, then look at it in Netscape. FYI - the graphics, etc are not done, or finished - my main concern is compliance. The pretty stuff can be touched up later!

Well, you got the right forum, but beyond that I'm not sure. I really dislike JavaScript and avoid it when possible, so I doubt I can be much help here.

You might try posting a link to your included js file (with a .txt extension), though I'm not sure it would tell us a lot. My first suggestion would usually be to start removing stuff, until it started working again. But, to be honest, I don't think that will work in this instance. The one thing I immediately noticed, and I'll admit I did little more than glance at the source, was that you don't appear to have any <layer> sections defined. Is it possible you removed some while you were adding tables? To the best of my knowledge, Netscape offers very little support for the <div> tags, so cross-browser compatibility usually requires both.

Hey - If I knew half as much as you do about programming server side programs I probably wouldn't use too much javascript myself! BUT - as of yet, I haven't been able to catch a class on perl or anything else I could use to program them, so... *sigh* Javascript it is... and sorry to those who don't have it.

So Ron - when you starting the online Perl course? I'll be the first student!!!!!!

Peace,

C
