Daydreaming

While basking in the spring
sunshine to-day,
I let my thoughts
simply drift off
and away.
I closed my eyes
against the intruding
bright light
And saw myself as
a yellow bird kite.
Dipping and diving
twirling in sail,
Robins and blue jays
expertly chasing
my tail.
Then my thoughts changed
and I became an
escaped red balloon.
Rising up higher and higher
Delighting the man
in the moon.
A snap of a twig -
I'm velvet butterfly blue.
Blending with an
azure sky -
From garden to garden
I flew.
A shift of my mind
I was back on
the ground.
As Peter Rabbit
dutifully making
my rounds.
Candy eggs of all colour
I hid with such
pleasure
I was giving children joy
And memories
to treasure.
With my egg basket empty
A cloud blocked
the sun
And I was back
to reality
From whence I'd begun.

Chris,
A good day for that! Lovely write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
