~*~

Seldom in my childhood,
Was I referred by name,
Kids just called me "Freckle Face"
And I'd hang my head in shame.

I hated all my freckles,
So Mom would often say,
"Sweetheart, they're your beauty spots,
And you look so cute this way".

But still I felt so ugly,
With brown spots on my face,
Since sunshine made them come out more,
I'd seek a shady place.

Then one day, a light went on,
Inside my freckled head,
If I had lots and lots of spots,
I'd have a tan instead!

So, I head out in the sunshine,
On a long, hot summer's day,
But all I got, was a painful burn,
And more spots on display!

Mom, said not to fret them so,
For they would fade with time,
And now that that, has come to pass,
I miss those spots of mine!

When looking back in retrospect,
I really was quite pretty,
Too bad I didn't know that then,
And that is such a pity.

Now I have a daughter,
In pigtails and pink bows,
And she certainly is beautiful
With those spots upon her nose!

She says she hates her freckled face,
So, as my Mom would say,
"Sweetheart, they're your beauty spots,
And you look so cute this way!"

I'm sure you both are quite beautiful! I hope your daughter grows up with your talent as well. Writers gift from mother to daughter just like the gift of spots! Thanks for sharing, Angel of the Earth!

(smiles) Yay! Oh Linda, I think kids with freckles are soooooo adorable and I used to have many of them too and still do have some! (kiss on cheek) I guess I got all of them by dreaming with the daffodils in the sunshine too much! (giggles) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, I'm still short for my height but my mom thinks it's cute especially when I'm cheering and running, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Linda, I always had freckles and wanted a dark tan so bad. I have gotten burned so bad from the sun that I had to go to the doctor...that was after I had left home.

Anyway, when I became a teenager all the guys never noticed the freckles when I was in my bathing suit on the beach. LOL So, I decide my Irish part of me was just fine. HeeHee!!  My Dad was the one who had them and told me they would go away.

I loved this

This is so cute and adorable! I have freckles, too...But I've always liked mine lol
I really enjoyed reading this! Brought a big smile to my face

My Dad says that folks used to say he'd swallowed a dollar bill and it broke out in pennies... so I came by freckles naturally... and they never would hold hands and form a tan! LOL

This is delightful, EA. *S*

As for you and I ever having a tan, it seems highly unlikely! That Irish blood in us refuses to cooperate.
