Today I thought I'd read
myself from the past
I found a looney tune dancing
on the edge in the rain
complete with rainbow
colored umbrella
Beautiful days found me
crying & lamenting
Overcast days, was I
not celebrating?
No matter the weather
I was always intensely
packed between the lines
sometimes with barbwire
others with kisses,
even both-
how could you ever be
sure when I wasn't?
yet discernment plagued
me with strangers who
believed I had a gift
a gift once opened
showed only the face
of pain
from child to woman-
woman to child, I'd
accepted until only
the bitter after taste
remained
it was good, though

hilarious!

I read myself today
from the past
became deeply
engrossed or was I
just grossed?
I'll think I'll call this
tragic comedy,
"The art of
contradiction"

May I digress [because I know I can? ]
I saw then
what I see now...
an intelligent, witty,
charming, honest, [hard on herself] poet...
who delights me every time
I open her poetry...

So...
I read the past, as well...
and look forward
to your many presents...

The demon depression has come to visit again.  I'm looking forward to his departure.

Thank you dear Sunshine for your kind & soothing words. Do you remember the poem, "hello sunshine?"

It always applies.
