It wasnt long ago that i was a child of five
Playing in the sand and feeling i was alive
Thinking that nothing could ever stand in my way
Since all i really did was have fun day by day

It was a time of innocence
It was a time of fun
It was a time of nothing more
Then playing in the sun

But then by the age of ten
It was during school I saw
That time was slowly marching on
And that i was growing older more and more

I didnt want to leave,
My childhood that i loved
I just couldnt leave
The sand castles i had grown to love

Then by the age of fourteen
I realized it was to late
To worry about the days of my youth
It was responsablities i started to hate

Not big ones yet,
Like bills and other things
It was the small ones like
What part time job i needed,
So i could spend the cash on which the job doth brings.

Now that im nineteen
And i have bills to pay,
I still have a place thats deep within my heart
Its a place where i store my memories that i had right from the start.

I might be turning twenty this year
And i know that i am starting to view
What life doth bring me
What Responsabilities i will have to do

But i have to say this now
That my childhood has not left me yet
I cant help but admit this
That i still watch cartoons while in bed.

You speak for most of us, I am sure! But as you so aptly conveyed, those memories, and that happy and innocent little girl, will forever dwell within you!
Bring her out and play with her often!

Warm hugs,
--and happy 20th birthday in advance!

I'm well beyond the age of twenty, but
I still have my childhood and teen
years in me......and it's wonderful to have
when the responsibilities and pressures
of this life seem to be pouring in. Don't
ever lose your ability to bring out the
child in you when it's needed.
Hugs,
Ethel

This is so good it should make it to the book

Real friends celebrate in who we are and have faith in all that we can become
