The poet wasn't needing.  Wasn't wanting.  Didn't care.
If the public wasn't bleeding.  Then the public thought it fair.
The poet wasn't starving.  Wasn't lonely.  Wasn't sad.
That the public didn't find a use for anything he had.
So the poet didn't cry out.  Didn't die from selfish cuts.
Then the public had a meeting.  Banged a gavel.
Said "You're nuts."
So the poet wasn't talking.  Wasn't laughing.  Thought it fair.
If the public wasn't needing.  Wasn't wanting.  Didn't care.
Then the poet finally fell upon his most timely verse.
And the public thought of ways to end this most untimely curse.
So the poet he was bleeding.  And he was starving in the square.
And the public they were laughing.  They were talking everyhwere.
But the poet found his destiny in all that he had penned.
And the public they were fawning.  Asking.  "Aren't
you a friend."

Tis true, misunderstanding and suffering seem to be our lot if we would be famous - but there are good times and it is as important in my eyes to write about hope and faith and courage under fire or not. Thank you for this telling piece.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

EDH...I've often wondered, if, out of this nest of blue fledglings, we would be asked to read or share...

I'm blessed by this home, and one day I hope to fly to share more, but for now, I will sit, my egg being warmed by the mother and father of the nest...

just waiting for the right one
to be hatched...

I am enjoying your poetry very much!
