The Journey, Part I

Ginger’s Challenge
20. If I Could Write A Column

Sometimes, wonders appear as
thought:  perhaps now is the time to discover
the why of the write,

which answers itself:
it is so we might find ourselves.

But my search is not for you.
For you must perform your own,
that ceaseless search of intimates,
in glimpse of the selves,
undertaking journeys of discover…
a coming together of whispers that passed us by,
ran through us, or simply running over us
in giggled waylay of childhood,

now steeped in understanding

when summer breaks across the spring
or when fall leaves us in surrender to winter,

or when a memory returns of another day
steeped in scent of apple blossoms
or pine tree fragrance,
and we remember the sliver that scarred us
for life

as we sucked blood from the wound
re-salting memory of birth

and remember baking of bread.

It is the trod we took decades ago
to come back and fit the arch of foot, now,
where sandy burrs clung, as sun sung in wisps of hair
in halo, and slender bodies bent over
to undo a moment

then stood with eyes in full survey of eternity
never questioning then, the why…

but now it comes, in a sense that is still
hidden in depiction

a sketch of time beneath my hand
which may unfold

in Ginger’s column.

'Yes'..softly I whisper, 'yes' Karilea...and smile.
You have most certainly met this challenge,
and answered it beautifully.

Mum, I knew there was a reason why I was drawn to read tonight, that it felt like it was time......
after reading this I am positive that I now know why, this is most splendid writing...

oh my, how I have missed your wisdom dear Kari....hugs to you.....
(yes, it does mean that I am back... )

i say you more than met the challenge...

when summer breaks across the spring
or when fall leaves us in surrender to winter,

~concise, nice way to show the passing of time

and we remember the sliver that scarred us
for life

~this intrigued me...what kind of "silver"?...

as we sucked blood from the wound
re-salting memory of birth

~unique way to say "life has come full circle"?

sun sung in wisps of hair
~just beautiful

Karilea,
This write means so very much to me that I can begin to explain. And this line:

=================================
as we sucked blood from the wound
re-salting memory of birth
================================
How cool.
======================================
then stood with eyes in full survey of eternity
never questioning then, the why…

but now it comes, in a sense that is still
hidden in depiction

a sketch of time beneath my hand
which may unfold

in Ginger’s column.
========================
But it was this that caught me unawares and brought so many instant tears to my eyes. I was unprepared. That hasn't happened in quite some time. It was a good release. Thank you sweet friend for all you do for my broken heart.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Karilea, this is wonderful. I couldn't find the first one earlier when I saw the others. I thought it was a continuance in sequence, so I was going to read it that way. Then I went to the link at the end and saw Larry's challenge.

Now, I'm going to read more.

Ethel

Just wanted you to know the moth hasnt forgotten....and will be back...5 times to be exact

You're the best I've ever felt ...
it's so wrong not to be with you.
It's getting harder to stay away,
it stops my heart just to be with you.
