In the other room my son laughs

In the other room my son laughs
it’s the most beautiful sound I hear

he is happily indulging in his favourite past time
although it is not one I prefer that kept him busy
but it is his and he is happy

His woes are small
nothing more than house chores, homework
and early bedtimes.

But today
I can’t help but wonder what life holds for him
What he will do with it? How will he overcome the
obstacles that’ll stand in his way?

I am afraid one day that laugh will fade
and I will fail.

the univiersal worry of Mother. You touch my heart with this, just pure love outpouring.

You are luscious, inside AND out.

Ah my dear, mothers only think they can keep the universe away from their children, but they follow their own stars, and we can only hope we instilled enough in them that they will find laughter...somewhere....

this is touching...

and heartfelt...

This sounds like me over the years..
You do your best..you cannot, and will not fail.
This is the heart of every mother speaking.
Well done!

Maree, been there, and proud to say my son not only made it but stands tall in the integrity department, and still laughs   This is sure every Mother's poem - good one too!

Angel - you are in my head with this one - I too feel like this every single day - the love of mother and child is a bond that can never be broken and yes - he will shine as you do here . . .  xxoo

A mother never fails as long as she has equipped her child to walk his own path and it sounds like you have done that. Wonderful, heartwarming poem.

Somehow I had failed to see this marvel of maternal muse. So glad I happened across it dear.

Wonderful as always Mmy.
