It is trying to flood today
the streets well up
like concrete eyes
surprised by pain
of sudden spring
of a wound so deep
and bold
it rendered blood from stone...

I bought myself a percolator
because I missed the sound of pump
comfort in a metal urn
in rhythms of our yester-morns.
I can almost smell the toast
that my father used to burn
and I lay
the headlines straight
of today
on the table
for no one
because now he's gone
and I don't care
for subtleties
of today from yesterday.

But I still buy his marmalade
even tho I hate the stuff
but now I think I understand
why he loved that sticky
slop
it covered burnt toast perfectly
making scraped bread into art.

I'm  glad my time is mine today
and happy that it's raining hard
watching drops
bounce from the street
an instrument of watersong
to wake me gently to this day
my sheets still smell of bergomot
and I can eat my Cheerios
and open box of new crayons
wafting in the very scent
of cigarettes and memories.

serenity - yes, indeed. I feel the ache in this and have witnessed the dams burst myself a few times. This write is remarkable in it's deep emotions. Be well. Chris

you may not always think so....but this I KNOW--
waking up Karenanne is right as that rain... right as the sunrise ...

Karenanne IS all those colors in that box...
Karenanne just IS ... and thats ALL she need be.

You also woke up Linda Louise! I identified with absolutely everything you incorporated into this real write. Everything! Did I say "everything"?--yep, EVERYTHING --past and present!

Now the song "Memories" comes to mind...now I am singing it....Thanks for the trip down your memory lane--it appears I have travelled a similar one!

I especially enjoy reading poems of yours such as this one!

Love & Eternal Light,
Linda

the rain is holding out
like last soldiers of a fortress
tugging at memories
and stories left behind
many a burning smoke
with drops falling
in a flood of tears
of losses unimaginable
uncountable
where additions and subtractions of
what is left and what has disappeared
who is left and who has gone
don’t ever match
the scars on the fortress
the stabs at the stones

the rain is holding out
while the heart holds
far too many burdens
infinite pieces of baggage
blended together by
fixing agents
concrete addictives
and strong addictions

the rain is holding out,
little knowing that
all the glue in the world
fails to fix broken glass

maybe melting helps
maybe that’s why
there exists rage
and there exists heat
v o l c a n i c
waiting to erupt
like emotions held dear
in the fortress of the soul.
--------

sorry for filling up the space... but I had to post this here...

sudhir

dear dear sudhir...

This is just remarkable. I beg you to post it again, under your name so that everyone can read this...filling up space? Yes you did, lovely friend, you filled up that empty space that haunts, and I am amazed once again, at the continual blessings of grace and friendship I find here.

This is STUNNING. Please, please give it the honor it deserves of its own space?

namaste'--

You...smile...I wish I could tell you how you lift my heart through your understanding.
