I woke up this morning
As the sun lit my heart,
I thought of you beside me.
What a wonderful way to start.
I turned over hoping to see
The perfect love in you.
But sadness filled my soul
As I told myself, “Five more days to go.”
I prayed that morning to sleep this week through.
All day and night ‘till your flight arrived that noon.
I lay there like a child,
Squeezing my eyes so tight.
To open them and only see
The same bright morning light.
I missed you that morning
Unlike any other day.
To be so in love,
If only words could explain.
That morning “I miss you”
Was all this mind would let me say.
But “So in love”
Was what my soul sang.

Five more days to go!  Whoo Hooo, and I could read the anticipation in every word of your poem.  Nicely composed piece.

To be hugged by a friend is wealth beyond words.
