Waiting At The Bridge

I’ll wait here for you, at the bridge.
We’ve met here many times,
though you may not remember.
That bridge – the one we walk
between the days, to cross
the streams of sleeping,
yours and mine.
Oh, I have known you here already,
felt your voice, but never heard
the words of you, outlined you
with my arms and felt your warmth
if only that, and seen you sometimes
through the water eyes of dream
that fade with dawn.
And so I wait here at the bridge
and know you wait for me upon
some bridge that is your own,
reach for me with your arms of dream,
feeling my voice, longing to hear
the words of me, seeking my face
before it fades into the dawn.
And do we only dream?
If we should meet, two strangers
matched so close in dreaming,
would we know, or would we pass
unknowing, hopeful, waiting still?

Ed,

The talent you have!  This is wonderfully beautiful and it causes me to sit here in knowing understanding of those bridges....

Enjoyed greatly,

What incredible lines. *S* I'd love the poem for these alone... but the truth is, they're fitted perfectly into a marvelous whole. *S*

And I'd like to think that the guardian angels would be on duty to trip one of you into attention before an opportunity passed by unnoticed. *S* Beautiful work! *S*

Ed, this reminded me of a movie I saw
with Meryl Streep in it. They met at the
bridge a lot. I could scenes from that
movie as I was reading. Very good writing, Sir.

Wow, Ed!

That was a fabulous piece of writing and I can see we were on the same wavelength.  Thanks so much for sending me the link.  Two minds think alike, eh? :-)

Take care......Sue
