Rejection is a powerful thing
When done by one you love
To be pushed away is a terrible feeling
Especially from one you trust

Whether meant or not
Your heart rips in two
And the words “I love you”
Feel like “I don’t want you”

And that look in his eyes
That pushes you away
Sends a shiver down my spine
Every day

When you ask to see him
And he just says “no”
When you want to be with him
But he acts like he doesn’t know

Did he mean what he said?
Does he want to stay away?
He’ll join me in bed
But leave me to go play

When you sit by the phone
And wait for his call
And you think of the times
You’ve waited for naught

It’s then that you realize
Your loves full of pain
For you know you must go
Walk away in the rain

Have I ever been there...
Great expression of the emotions involved.

Man have I been there. It's been awhile, but I've been there.
