Lacey looked worried

And I watched her full lips grow a bit thin
As her hand sought the place in her spine
That dipped in and seemed to catch the pain
She was feeling.

Her eyes turned away from mine
And I thought about how the years had been kind
As she still had an enticing form  I wanted to explore
All most as much as I wanted to be one to touch her heart
And heal the old wounds she’d told me about
In our time together.

My hand found it’s way to her shoulder and I felt her head
Rest against my chest as a whispered,”So comfortable”
Escaped with a sigh.

“Tell me,” I began,
“that you need to go.”

“Not yet,” she answered
And we stood a while like that
My arms wanting all of her but satisfied
With the comfort of another’s touch
That didn’t judge harshly the faults and cracks
In the other.

I felt her tremble when my hand found the small of her back’
And pulled her to me.

I probably shouldn’t have,
But I kissed her then
Losing myself in soft lips and the feel of her
Kissing me back.

If I hadn’t seen the shadow
of an other time
And another tear lying behind her eyes
When she smiled, we might have spent the night together

But it was there and reflected enough light
I knew Lacey didn’t need to cry

Not this time

tender respect reflected throughout, great restraint

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

its this kind of depth of emote and sincere humility that is at the heart of your poetry....the gift you have for writing with mirrors, so that we see parts of ourselves in your words that touch places deep and its what keeps us wanting more.

(big hugggssssss) This is a very emotional turn, dearest friend, there may not be a use to cry but certainly every half a mind to do so, this is so very touching, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
