With mistakable purpose,
I drew his eyes into mine.
It was his soul I was
committed to inspect,
but what I gazed upon was unforseen.

I stared intently at my poignant discovery.

The exterior was thick, callused, hardened
from  years of repeated wounding.
Disturbing scars mutilated what was once
almost certainly beautiful.

I nevertheless felt compelled to enter.

A sudden smile appeared providing
a soft light which furthered my view.
My eyes penetrated his with
brilliant precision.

I found more than I could have fantasized.

It was the sweetest concoction:
the innocence of an infant,
the mischievousness of a boy,
the passion of a man.  Available?
Yes...but solely on his terms.

I took only what my heart could hold.

With clear insight,
my paradigm was forever altered.
And now patience is easy,
forgiveness willing,
understanding permanently transcended.

very beautiful, Patricia

just a suggestion from Ron's guidelines. You may want to edit this while you can, into smaller line breaks as they will look uneven and may run-on on the books pages.

Interesting first post. Lots of talent, I too am looking forward to reading more of your work.

But, only on his terms? Never!

This is very well done, Patricia. Isn't it nice what we can see inside another's soul?
