Cotton Dreams

Spitting blood,
again.

His ears throb
as if filled
with a moon-bound sea.

His body
drags-
an anchor
to this shore.

Some night,
'mid soaked
and clammy sheets

he'll cut the line
and sail into the wind.

But for this day
he's spitting blood

again.

Interesting variety.

I liked the dragging anchor in counter reference to the cutting of the line.
