Sister Freedom

Dedicated to PFC. Lori Ann Piestewa, 23,
Tuba City, Arizona,
507th Maintenance Company
She was part of a convoy ambushed March 23, 2003
when PFC Jessica Lynch was taken prisonor.
They were roommates at Fort Bliss, TX.

Lori Ann is a Native American.
She leaves behind her 4 year old son
and 3 year old daughter.

********

Her nation cried when thunder
rained havoc from above
now she stands in remembrance
of such bravery and love

Many years of hatred drew
a line along the sand
but now she lifts Old Glory
and prepares to take a stand

One nation, under each man’s God
united at last in freedom’s fight
she stands amid mountain glory
to claim her citizen's right

THANK YOU! I cried for her today, and shall light a candle in her honor tonight, and remember with gratitude all the sacrifices her family has made for this country, many many many times over.

Good bye dearest Lori, Sister in Freedom.

A beautiful tribute and lovely rendering in words and graphic. It does give me chills however. As lovely and tastefully as this is done, I pray there will be no need for many of these.

Sharon, I can't tell you how much this means. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to send a copy of this to my son. His girlfriend is a Hopi Indian, and she is from Tuba City. My grandson was born on the Indian reservation. It will mean a lot to her. Again, thank you for this.

Thank you all for your kindness. A friend from another website is trying to reach Lori's family and send this to her for me.

I too wish there was no need for this....

This was written after 9/11 but it seemed to fit this situation. I made the graphic from Paint Shop Pro Tubes...

This was absolutely breathtaking. It also shoots the phrase "America's Fighting Men" all to there and back.

I only wish I could write this well.

When I heard her story, I just sat and cried. So young with so much more living and loving to do. She left behind 2 little ones. Her father and grandfather both proudly served our country as well. She will be sadly missed.

Thank you so much for writing this. I had started a poem in her memory, but each time I opened it, I found myself in tears and it sits unfinished.

This is a wonderful tribute to her.
