Gentleman’s Agreement

Long ago, meaty palms met across a bar
to close a deal in sweat and lager.
This single handshake set into motion
a marriage of avarice, which began modestly,
but eventually grew into a conglomerate rich in fool’s gold,
built upon pacts of handclasps and handclaps -
over rolling greenery, while silver sticks poked at small, white balls.

When the men became old, the met one final time,
over tiny glasses of whiskey in the now historic saloon,
and admitted they missed the whole point.

Welcome to Big Business... It is true there is more damage done on the golf course than in all of the board rooms combined.
Great job.

Corinne...you made me think this one
a bit farther...

from the late 1800's, the grandfathers
making the handshake gesture...

to the grandsons, now a bit aged themselves,
saying just what you said...

that they all missed the point.

Dang, girl.

Teach me.
