A Piece of Something (4/4/03) As she sits and pens Her final goodbye She wonders if she doing What she really wants Or just asking for a response She tells him he hurts her With his sporadic calls She tells him it isn’t good for her And he need not bother Somewhere it became all or nothing She remembers good times Laughter and playful name-calling And the heat in night Remember the bathroom? Fumbling with the fear of being caught Not sure why she can’t shake him Maybe the rejection is what she can’t face Maybe the history of another time Too many maybes And not enough tears She sends him the letter Sealed with a promise To never forget The he, he was Or the she of yesterday He will have no real clue Of how much he hurt her Without trying How much he touched her Without knowing She misses him As soon as the letter is sent A piece of something What, she is isn’t sure Is gone Whatever it is Has his name on it In red And it hangs over her heart [This message has been edited by Susan Caldwell (04-04-2003 02:51 PM).] |

some goodbyes are hard...for the things we miss about the person now gone. Sometimes too...it is for the best well written..and heartfelt |
