April’s Rules

Let me let you in on this
A simple April’s rule,
Do not fold winter’s clothes away,
Or be ye yet the Fool!

Perhaps it’s Kansas at its best
A ballerina in frilly tulle…
Do not think that leaves on trees
Means summer’s here, oh Fool!

In the 90’s yesterday, summer's sweet sun!
A day of glory, glitter crowning jewel!
Now where oh where did it run?
As we face yet winter’s rule!

April is the month of jokes, yes, now April’s Rule….
As I stand in shorts, brief tank top, winter’s April Fool.

I found Sudhir's reply so charming: "April rules!"

Now, back to your light-hearted poem about capricious Mother Nature!--Yes, indeed! She's pulled an April fools joke on us! We are ice-stormed in! Schools are closed! Everybody is hibernating! The buds on the trees are frozen--and so am I!

Cold hugs (Sorry, but there is no warmth left in this body to send warm ones!)

Floridians learn to layer.  Pealing a piece of clothing off with each degree hike.

Some great rules to remember,
So glad that you have shared,
It does not apply to Balladeer,
He doesn't change his underwear.

This is so true Karilea..
we have drizzle, but just a few miles north

ROFLMAO @ Toe... and I've been blaming this coughing and hacking on allergies... but maybe it's the 80 degrees, then 30, then 80 routine instead? LOL Enjoyed this, Sunshine! *S*

Wow, Karilea, that is so true. I never thought of it that way (I can't believe it's April already)

Oh Sunshine, I know how you feel.  I am from St. Louis.  Beautiful, 80 degree weather this past week, and now, 30's and rain today.  I am ready for spring.  Maybe, just maybe, April will be more cooperative from here on out.

Oh yes! Oklahoma is just like that. I don't dare put my winter things up just yet. It was pretty nice today. But, who knows what tomorrow might be.

hehe, it's the same thing here in MN! Last April, it got up to the 90's one week, and it snowed the next! This year it has not gotten past the 40s so far. Oh well, you win some you lose some I guess. lol
