A seed
can burst forth from the dirt
and grow
into a kaleidoscope of wonders

Yet, sometimes
a seed may lay dormant
Never blooming
Never greeting the sun
Living
shamefully and alone

In the dark dirt
with the worms

Wow! It makes me hope that all children may receive enough sunshine to grow into kaleidoscopes of wonders.... but then rain is needed too. So, out of hardship, the miracle can happen.
The key is in "dormant", there is still hope then even for those who remain in darkness.
Love, Margherita

I hope that that was not a rendition of your own childhood, my sweet littlewing.
This was an incredibly fine bit of writing. It hit me right in the heart with the sad and unfortunate truth of it.

Warm loving hugs,
Linda

Sue, I know I've told you before, but you can put so much heart and feelings into your poetry. And in this one you said it in so few words, too.

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Sue, what can I asay that hasn't been said a bazillion times before??? This actually gets me to thinking about some of the thoughts and plans that have, as you put it: "Living
shamefully and alone
In the dark dirt
with the worms"

A terrible waste of seed, to be sown in such a way.

A transplant is called for here, to a place of better ground.

Lonely lovely write, Sue.

Yikes, looks like lots of sunshine, water and tender loving care are needed.
