Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2003-04-01 05:57 PM

Daddy, would you sing to me
My daughter asked as I tucked her in
You used to sing so nice and now you don't
Why did you stop
Is it because you don't like to sing
Maybe you don't like those songs
I really don't blame you
I don't like the Circle being Broken
But the Inch Worm always made me smile
And don't you like that song about KISS anymore
And who is Bethwhy did they sing about her
Daddy, even if you don't like to sing
Could you do it once more just for me
I promise I won't ask again

Autumn, my one true love of life
Your Daddy will sing for you always
Many times at night when you are sleeping
I sit on your bed
And I sing to you all the songs
You love so well and remember
No close your eyes, Dear one
And Daddy will sing for you again
For now and until you sleep
Two and two are four....
Four and four are eight...

Imagine all the People living life in peace...
John Lennon

Lovely poem--wonderful Daddy!

Memories of bedtimes when I sang my songs and played my guitar for my daughters as they were growing up. Very, very special memories. Thank you for bringing them back to me.

Warm hugs,
EA

Once again, I thank you all for the kind words. Singing for my daughter is indeed a memory I shall cherish if I never sing again.
Raph- You are completely right. Beth by KISS is one of the few KISS songs I'll listen to any more.

Brad, I love these poems you are writing
about your children. They are so blessed
to have a loving Daddy like you who will
take time with them. I sang to my daughter
when she was growing up. Then, when she got
older, we sang together in a gospel group.
This brought back some really good memories.
Hugs,
Ethel
.
(Btw, I like more of the songs KISS sang than any other rock group.....but my favorite music is soft rock. I like Rod Stewart, Phil Collins, Celine Dion, Enya...and on and on)
