~*~

Angst, frustration,
Anger and fear,
My emotions
Are driving me,
Into third gear!
"No more idling,
It's full steam ahead!"
~ But I just want to,
Stay home in bed!

Bombarded with news,
That's making me sick,
Death and destruction,
The evils and tricks.
All is surreal,
As I view from my chair,
A front row seat
Of the carnage that's there.

Fighting for freedom,
For theirs' and ours' too,
Costs a huge price
For them, me, and you.
As our prayers for peace
Are sent up above,
May God show mercy
With blankets of love.

***

I've pulled covers up,
Turned off the TV,
I've shut out the world,
Now just let me be!...

WAR  SUCKS!!!

Fantastic! This war stuff and this world is all way to stressful and upsetting. Now move over, I'm crawling under the covers too!

EA,

Yes, I too concur.
It sucks
It sucks the life out of ordinary folks
It sucks our energy, it sucks our hopes
It sucks our laughter, turns to screams
It sucks the  spirit from our dreams
and when it finally does implode
new beginnings will unfold
perhaps, the world will then discern
that peace is something we must learn

rest, reenergize but, come back for we need your good spirit.

Peace,
SG

(tears fall down my cheeks) Not only is this war ridiculous and pointless, but it is also very oppressive! I think back to when parts of the Ottoman Empire were remaining and Britain said they would fight alongside those wanting the land and help them get it, then they stole it from them saying "Guess what, we got the land so move away!". And then during the reign of Bush's dad when the military went down into the Persian gulf and we supported Saddam to eliminate the tension in Iran but then Saddam got too powerful so he asked the Sunnis of the south to fight with them and so Bush basically asked for Saddam's men and the Sunnis to kill each other! Let's face it, this war is all about what Bush and his colleagues want, the oil, the land, the control. I don't blame the Sunnis for showing resistance at all, what should the administration expect when our leaders murdered their ancestors before? (sad sigh) It shouldn't be so complicated to understand simply peace is the answer, before all the world is divided and we end up blowing this world apart, I am heavily against this war and very much anti-Bush too and hope anyone but him gets in office in 2004, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Yes, indeed! We should all support the American and Allied troops. They have been sent into the fires of hell! I cannot even imagine how frightening it is for them--and the conditions are intolerable--searing heat, sandstorms...I pray for their safe return.

Marti ~

I just some more edits on my poem--'twas ever thus! No matter how many times I edit a poem before posting it, I have to go in and make several more afterwards! Readers who have saved a poem of mine when I first post it, should actually save it to their library a few days later! That would be a much better rendition of the poem!

...There! I just moved over! Hop in and we can hide under the covers and talk about happy things! I am beginning to believe that I may be part ostrich!

Thank you for expressing so efficiently the feelings of many! War has never been the solution. To watch the terror in the eyes of those who are caught (both sides!) gives the measure of what it must mean to cope with an immediate death or torture threat.
Praying!

War does suck and no one knows that better than soldier. But a soldier does his job. He stands on the wall protecting the freedoms we hold so dear. I read with interest so of the garbage espewed and I find it so funny. We have the right to complain and protest because of the soldiers who took up arms to secure them for us. If we had a repressive government boards such as this would not exist. Write negatively, protest and complain all you want but we have to believe and trust those that we elected to do the right thing. They are far more knowledgeable than the poor few writing here with their pacifistic attitudes. How soon we forget the tragedies of the past both recent and long ago. We are not fighting for oil, or to be aggressive, we are fighting in essence to preserve and protect the freedoms we enjoy. You are naive to think the Iraqi government had nothing to do with terrorist activities. The Iraqi people can only benefit from our actions. So when you sleep tonite, remember that our proud fighting force is on guard protecting the red, white and blue flying so high and so proudly. You can awaken tomorrow knowing you will still have the opportunity to spew you contempt and hatred of our country. You are very correct...war sucks!

James ~

I believe that "most", not "some", of "the soldiers that are fighting this war feel like war sucks!" I pray for the American and the Alied troops--and for the innocents who are suffering in Iraq. I also pray for world peace and for the war not escalating to the point of humankind's self-destruction! Yes, WAR  SUCKS!!!

Whoa, there! I think that if you were to read my poem once again, you may see that you were off the mark with your interpretation of it--but that is okay! I cannot tell you how many times that I have done likewise with poems that I have read.
If you read my reply to Ethel, you will see that I totally agree with you regarding the plight of the soldier. I have had many relatives in the armed forces, and some of them have died fighting for our freedoms. I presently have American friends that are on the front lines and I am sick at heart and terrified for them!!!
In my poem, I point no fingers and cast no aspersions. I am merely stating that "war sucks!"--and it does!--as you so adroitly concurred in your reply. As far as you regarding me as a naive pacifist, I AM, most assuredly, a pacifist!--but naive?--most definitely not! I enjoy looking on the bright side of life--even when I have been dragged through the darkest of shadows, I find my way back into the Light.
I would also like to say that I believe your blanket statement about the "poor few writing here" being naive pacifists who "write negatively, protest and complain", has perhaps demonstrated your own naivety.
We in the free world are blessed with the freedom to express ourselves and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Welcome to Passions!

PEACE,
Earth Angel

Earth Angel,
My apologies to you. My diatribe was not directed at you at all. I enjoyed what you wrote and totally understand it. I was merely incensed at what another poster wrote and I had to respond. This pacifist crap just galls me. When my time came I was prepared to go but luckly I didnt have to. While I may not want my son to be put into harms way, if he was called, he would go. Ok, Time to get off my soap box! All the best to you, EA!
